Jewellery Heist in Nadia: Police Arrest Accused, Recover Stolen Gold and Silver

Arnab Majumder, Not Only News Correspondent, Krishnagar: A significant jewellery theft took place at “New Lovely Jewellery,” a shop located in Mahisbathan Bazar in Nadia’s Karimpur. The shop’s proprietor, Shripada Sarkar, resident of Goas, discovered the theft when he opened his shop at around 09:30 hours on the same day. In his complaint, Sarkar reported that approximately 150 grams of gold and 5 kilograms of silver were stolen from the shop.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Karimpur Police Station registered Case No. 185/24 under Section 305 of the BNS Act and launched an investigation. Acting on reliable information, Investigating Officer Subasish Biswas arrested Ikram Seikh (31), a resident of Maheshnagar Gandhipara, PS Chapra, Nadia, from Boro Andulia on October 5, 2024.

During police custody, the accused provided information leading to the recovery of the stolen items. On October 7, the police seized 5 kilograms of silver ornaments, 66.860 grams of gold ornaments, five rings weighing 1.45 grams, and thirty-six pairs of bangles from Seikh’s residence in Maheshnagar.

The swift action by the police not only resulted in the arrest of the accused but also led to the recovery of the stolen items, bringing relief to the shop owner. Investigations are ongoing to determine if others were involved in the crime. This case highlights the efficiency of local law enforcement in tackling such incidents.
